Musée du quai Branly – A meeting ground for cultures of the world
1 museum, 4 continents!
Located close to the Eiffel Tower, the musée du quai Branly is an outstanding collection of 300 000 objects from Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas of which almost 3 500 treasures are on permanent displays. The museum is an original place with its architecture and its wild garden. It provides another vision of Paris: Contemporary, unique, inescapable, and trendy.
It is one of the biggest museums in the world devoted to non-western cultures and arts and is the 4th largest French museum.
The musée du quai Branly is a cultural city on the move, a place for dialogue and an open window to the world with more than 500 new works presented every year on the Collections Plateau and 8 temporary exhibits each year.
The building, designed by Jean Nouvel, Pritzker prize 2008, glorifies the mission of being a bridge between the different world cultures showcased by the museum.
The garden, created by Gilles Clément, is a 17,500 m² enclosure in the heart of the capital.
The museum includes:
Permanent collection
“Galerie Jardin” is for large temporary exhibits;
Two restaurants;
A bookstore, two lecture halls.
NOTE : The combined ticket include tickets for the permanent collection and the temporary exhibition
